The 2022 Christmas Mittens KAL (knit-along) begins on 13 December. As usual, Maja Karlsson is our mitten designer. We will publish the first pattern part early in the morning so, if you want, you can get up early to knit on St. Lucia day. Look forward to spending an advent season full of food feelings together with all those who want to share this cozy tradition with us!

Yarn and Colors
The Christmas mittens are knitted in our fine Svensk Ull! It is a 3-ply wool yarn produced from Swedish raw materials, spun by Klippans Yllefabrik, and available in 21 colors.

You’ll need two colors for these Christmas mittens, one skein of each color listed below. Because the mittens are two-color stranded knitting, it is important to make sure that the colors contrast well with each other. If you choose one of the suggested yarn packs, you can be certain of that. Do you want to choose your own colors? In that case, make sure that the colors are different enough so the pattern will show distinctly!

The Christmas mittens are designed for a women’s size with the following measurements:

Here are Maja’s color suggestions. Each kit includes two skeins of Svensk Ull in the kit colors.
Christmas Party
Dark red and natural undyed gray – a classic color combination for an authentic Christmas feeling.
Colors in the kit: 59018 Lingonberry Jam and 59002 Gotland Grey.
Winter Forest
The first snow lies on the dense small spruce trees. Perhaps one of them will be a Christmas tree in your home? This color combination feels wintery, but also represents a quiet longing for light and greenery.
Colors in the kit: 59019 Bauer Green and 59001 Arctic Fox.
Snowflakes
If you haven’t tried Dala Blue, it’s high time you did. The crisp blue color against the natural white is unbeatable! A light snowfall against the cold, blue sky...

Farm Elf
Winter darkness has set in and something small is moving around outside the house. The farm elf’s mittens do not need bright colors to be pretty. Gray meets gray to create a lovely shadow play.

Christmas Elf Workshop
Light masses of candles and decorate the packages! Fine, lustrous red Falu Red really shines to create a Christmas feeling.

Needles
For these Christmas mittens, you’ll need needles U. S. size 4 / 3.5 mm. We suggest our fine Björk (birch) double-pointed needles, lustrous and durable and perfect for Svensk Ull. Needles 6 in / 15 cm long will be perfect for knitting the mittens! If you prefer, you can use a circular needle for the Magic Loop technique. We recommend ChiaoGoo SS Red Lace, 48 in / 120 cm / U. S. 4 / 3.5 mm. [note that original has 3.5 cm, not mm]
