Julvanten 2023 - PART 1
A very warm welcome to our Christmas mittens 2023!
It is going to be so much fun knitting together again when we begin on St. Lucia day! We hope you are ready with your yarn and needles for this year’s Christmas mittens. Let’s get going!
NOTE To be sure that your mittens will be the correct measurements as given in the pattern, it is important that, before you begin knitting the mittens, you make a gauge swatch to ensure that your gauge matches the given gauge. Here’s all the information you need about materials, gauge, and sizing.

RIGHT-HAND MITTEN
CUFF
With color 1 and smaller size dpn, CO 32 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 4 dpn; join to work in the round.
Knit around in stockinette (= knit every round) for 7 rnds.
Fold edge to WS and join the live sts to cast-on row. Using short, smaller size circular, pick up 1 st in each cast-on st. Holding circular behind dpn, join the two sets of sts: *k2tog, joining 1 cast-on edge st and 1 live st*; rep *-* around = 32 sts.
Now work around in Fisherman’s Rib following instructions in Stitches and Techniques. Begin with the set-up round and then repeat Rnds 1-2 a total of 9 times.
Knit 1 rnd, at the same time, increasing 4 sts evenly spaced around = 36 sts.
Make a Latvian braid (see Stitches and Techniques).
LEFT-HAND MITTEN
Make the cuff as for the right-hand mitten.
